Founder and former chairman of Astroc Mediterraneo S.A. Made his debut as a billionaire in 2007 worth $7.7 billion. Lost $6.4 billion within a year amid rumors of inflated earnings and a cooling property market in Spain. The company, now called Afirma Grupo Inmobiliario, dropped another 85% in the past year. Banuelos still makes ranks, barely, thanks to stock sales, including one in December. Apparently trying his luck again in Latin America, notably Brazil, where he has recently acquired a stake in real estate company Abyara. Runs a private foundation promoting Spain's cultural heritage.
